Identify these numbers in an aluminum V8

Kackyboy

Newbie
I am trying to identify these different numbers to find out what this aluminum V8 is, it is in a sand rail but I have no idea how to tell what engine it is or what year the engine is, HELP! Passenger head, HT 31813, below that on block HT 317(2)9 , not sure if it’s a 2 or not, drivers head ERR 4328, intake manifold Y 1349520 has an Edlebrock carb1403. are there other #s I need to look for? Thanx for any help!

Buick motor identification

:hurray:
We don't have a lot on casting numbers for the 215.

You might follow the link above Visually Identifying a 1960's or '70's GM engine to determine what it might be. If it may be a 215, then Buick Engine Identification, by the numbers will help tell you where to find the relevant numbers.
Thanx Bob, I go look at it again with this page in hand and see if I can identify it correctly. I’ll take some pix and see if I can send it too.

keep in mind, if you have an aluminum v8 which conforms to the small block Buick layout
BUT
it has metric fasteners

you've almost certainly got some sort of Land Rover v8 on your hands.

British Leyland purchased the 215ci tooling in ~1964 and had the engine in production up until 2004. when they did so, they converted it to metric dimensions and displacement and they call it a 3.5 Liter.

how do I send pics? The distributor is up front slanted toward drivers side

as noted the "Visual ID" page, that likely indicates a Buick / Rover. and, given the installation in a sand rail, is almost certainly from the small block engine family.
