I found my engine #s but not sure can you help?

I found a set of #s on my trany mount saddle but cant find the engine first its K 8 then write under it it says 1231447 (now the 3 could be a 3,8 or an 0)
that one is hard to make out. I just got the its a 1972 buick skylark (suncoupe) model the guy I got it from he told me it was a buick 350 but im not sure I did look at the engine #s in the shop but couldnt figure it out. Again any help would be great

the first difference between a 400/430/455 and 350 is the number of bolts in the valve cover.

    6 bolts = 350
    5 bolts = 400/430/455
    4 bolts = 215/300/340

it might help if you could find the casting number for the heads or intake but our list for 350's is very incomplete and it's unlikely that will help.

a 72 should be cast into the block somewhere as well as the two digit block code. in 72 a 350 could be coded 'WB' or 'WC' for 4 barrel and two barrel respectively. this will probably be between your #1 and #3 spark plugs.

in 72 the engine/carb/exhaust is also coded in your VIN so if you could give us that it would be helpful.
