The first number 4 indicates that the cat is a Buick Special the second Digit B Indicates the car was assembled in 1955. The third number 4 indicates the car was assembled in Kansas City, Kansas. The six remaining numbers represent the sequential production number.
If you open the hood, on the passanger side there is a 2"x3" metal tag rivited to the cowl panel between the hood and winshield, close to the firewall. Tag has other usefull information.
Model number, Fisher style, Paint color, Trim Color ETC.

The 1955 Buick Special has a 264 ci. V-8 Buick Nailhad Engine with a 2 barrel carb.Stromburg or Carter 2179 or 2292 rated at 188 hp.
