salvage normally means that the car was written off by someone because it was destroyed by fire/water, stolen and wrecked or just really badly wrecked.
How can I find out if my car is perhaps stolen or if something else has happened to my car.
The problem is that I live in the Netherlands and my car comes from California and was imported in the Netherlands on april 18th of 2001, I bought it a year later to fix it and make it roadworthy again.
I have all the papers from the customs so I think there's nothing wrong it but you never know, is the certificate of title checked when the car left the US by the police or something to see it isn't stolen or something, does anybody knows something about this?
On the top right corner there is the word
*** salvaged *** printed, what does this mean?
Bytheway VIN is: 484579H360225
Thanks,

To answer your questions more specifically, US Customs checks the title and original bill of sale prior to allowing the car to be exported. I recently exported a car from the US and they required the original title and notarized bill of sale 3 days in advance of the car leaving the country to check the details. Likely your car was properly documented leaving... although you might want to look into the Salvage title a little more.

Thank you both for your replies.
Now I have another question about it
If the car is salvaged, can it still be made legally roadworthy or is it just a write off and can't be driven anymore?

I believe the answer to that questions is yes, and it may have been done in your case. However, the title will always reflect the fact it was "Salvaged" so that subsequent owners will be aware. I may be a little off, but I think thats how it works.
