oY 27968 is probably the engine serial number from the driver side of the engine (it should be stamped in and not raised like a casting number) and should acutally read 6Y127968 (last 8 digits of the VIN) indicating it is the original numbers matching engine for the car. On the passenger side of the engine in the same location as the engine serial number should be the engine production code, it will tell you if the engine is a 401 or 425, see these links for the location and codes:
