    69 Buick gs400

    Hello I'm new to the site I have a question about a 69 Buick gs 400 I just bought. Everything I have read says that they don't have side mouldings on them but mine does could this have been an option that they asked for when new? I checked all the numbers and they check out . Only ones I had a question about are on cowl tag under the trim code it says 12b m40 I beleive the m40 means 400 transmission not sure about the 12b. Thanks for your help

    12B = built second week (B) of December (12) 1968
    M40 is the option code for the TH400 trans.

    Typically the transmission code wasn't put on the trim tags for US built cars, but it was for Canadian built cars. If your car was built in Canada, you can get a report on it with a listing of the option codes from Vintage Vehicle Services for a fee:

    Thanks for your help! Yes it was made in Canada . Any idea about the side mouldings I keep hearing they didn't put them on gs400 but mine has them.

    I don't recall seeing one in person, but there are some Buick promotional photos that show side moldings on GS 400 cars. If you get the report maybe it will show that as an option that was ordered.
