Hi Guys,
I'm new to this forum, so hopefully I'm doing this right.
I bought this 65 Skylark as a project car about 18 months ago. My son and I have gotten it road worthy with a bunch of safety items, steering, disc brakes etc. But it seems like every time we try to order parts they don't fit. The one guy at OPG said he thought it was a special model. The title shows it as a 1965 Skylark Hardtop 2DR. It does have a thin post so they are calling it a 2 dr sedan, but the window felts for example are way off. Is there a way to look up the vin to find an exact description, or find out if it is a unique model?
It also has what I'm assuming is the original engine and am assuming it is a 300, still runs good, compression is good in 7 and Ok in 1. So I would like to find out what engine was original in it as well (cant see numbers underneath, need to have it steamcleaned first).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can you take a picture of the trim tag on the firewall on the drivers side and of the engine. Post those up and we can identify them.

I have a '64 Skylark convert. I had a terrible time with window felts as OPG (and others) basically don't care about the '64. They like the popular models for volumes sake. I researched it enough to be able to tell them that the Skylark convert with the special moldings (the outside the window door sill, where you rest your arm) was basically the same as a '65 GS convert or a GTO. They were nice enough to take a chance and send those to me and they were correct. I told them that but I don't think they ever changed there catalogue. My point is you might have to do your own research and tell THEM what works. I tried several different suppliers and in this case OPG was the only one to work with me. I had the same problem with window roller parts for the lift. a Buick place in Oregon or Washington finally figured out what I needed so i could rebuild those and make my window lifts work.
