Hi everyone.
I just bought my self a 1971 Skylark. The car was imported from the states in 2005 to Norway. I'm the second ovner in Norway. The car came with a folder containing a lot of history for the car. The folder also includes the original buildshet for the car.
So Is there anyone that can help me decode the buildshet?

Thank you, I will try to contact him.
But can anyone tell me what engine this car had from the factory?
After searching around on net, I found out from the VIN on the car that it was delivered with an inline 6. When i look at the build sheet it says L77 350 4BLV8 eng. All the codes I find on the engine says it is an 1971. The code between the forward spark plugs on the driver side says "TD".
Is this the original engine for the car?
Is this the 350 that has 260hp?
HD
TD is the engine production code for a 1971 350 V8 4bbl, 260 hp engine. If the engine number is a 4 plus the last 8 digits of the VIN, then it is the original engine. Alternatively, for 1967-1971, if the 8th digit of VIN is a 6 then the car came with a 6-cylinder engine. If it is anything else it came with a V8. So your car came with a V8. Here is how your VIN decodes:
433371Z107267
4 = Buick
33 = Skylark
37 = 2-door hardtop coupe
1 = 1971
Z = Fremont, CA
107267 = sequential number, V8 starting at 100001, L6 starting at 600001
Your engine serial number should be 41Z107267. This link shows where to find the engine serial number:

Here is a link to the 1971 chassis service manual:

This section of the manual (page 8) shows how to decode the VIN:

Sean.......this is what I find interesting....
In 1971 the model series was a 3327 and the cataloging series is a 3337.....
In 1972 the model and cataloging series is 3337...
The car is std with an L6 but according to the sheet it was ordered with a L77 350-4bbl. This is noted in box 27
and in the ordered option list.
Also car was built Dec 23rd ( I thought those union guys were off that week)...Trim Tag should read 12D
I believe the Fremont plant built and stamped what they wanted and when they wanted....LOL...

I thought there were both in the Skylark series for 1971:
3327 = 2-door thin pillar coupe
3337 = 2-door hardtop coupe
The same for 1972 except that the Buick model number and Fisher body style number were different:
4D27 (in VIN) = 43327 (on body tag) = 2-door thin pillar coupe
4D37 (in VIN) = 43337 (on body tag) = 2-door hardtop coupe
and there was only the V8 available in the Skylark in 1972.

Well..for the '71 page....8 books...3 misprints...open book insert foot...
It is interesting... that someone or a dealer would order a Skylark and "load it up" instead of a 4400 series Skylark Custom that already had the options...
L6 is STD but build sheet says it was built with 350-4 (as noted in box 27 and ordered option list).......
Jan. 27, 1970 BMD refers to the 1971 model year "TD" 350-4 available in the Skylark,Sportswagon,LeSabre and GS.
Could have changed before Aug 1st production...
Verification of VIN stamping on block proves Buick built the 3337 series Skylark with a ordered 350-4....which would not be that odd..
Just another Buick thing that makes me go..hmmmmmm...

This is the number I found on the engine block 041Z107267
I also found this number angled with twise as big letters abow the other one L49828
This are the numbers from the cowltag:
ST 71-43337 2 02233 BDY
TR 100 B80 43 11 PNT
12D 043140 400689
Helge
Engine block says its a '71 (Z) Fremont Ca., the 107297 matches Box 9 on build sheet, original engine.
Fisher Plate:
ST (Style) 71 = 1971
4 = Buick
33 = Skylark
37 = 2 Dr H.T.
Z = Fremont,Ca. Assembly Plant
02233 = Fisher body sequence number
TR (Trim) 100 = Green Vinyl Bench Interior..also noted in Box 71
43 = Lwr Body Color Lime Mist...noted in Box 79
11 = Upper Body Color Artic White...also noted in Box 79
B80 = Drip Rail Moldings
12D = Time Built Code ..12 = December...D = 4th Week...also noted in Box 10 ( 12-23 )
043140 & 400689 are Internal Build Codes ( but note Box 9 has the 043140 )
Excellent find..looks like the real deal with Fisher Plate, Block Stamping and Build Sheet..

I found out what the number over the engine VIN is. I was looking true al the papers that came with the car. Among the papers, there was an resipt from a engine shoop vald Bokan Bros in Sacrament CA from back in 1994. On the resipt there is an engine number 49829 (You see it in the second picture below). It must be a number they put on when they oh it.
It would have been fun to know what they did to the engine. Like if it had to get over bore, diferent pistons, just a basick oh etc......
I see it got a diferent cam CS709. Any one recognize that number?
