ON the protect o plate from my 1965 Riviera it has T-219 for the engine code would anyone happen to know what engine the code is for?

    T-219

T is short for LT (L=1965) which is a 401 and 219 is a date code

ok Thanks I was hoping that it had the 425 in it, I've always thought that it did because of the air cleaner having 465 on it. I guess It was changed at some point. This weekend I'll look at the numbers on the engine to see what it says.

I made it out to the shop today to look at the engine code on the block. It has LW on the block along with the vin number that matches the one on the car. Why would there be the code for the 401 on the protect o plate and it have the code for the 425 on the engine?

simplest explanation is that there was an error stamping the PoP.

more devious answer is that someone substituted the 425 but restamped the EIN so the vehicle would still be 'numbers matching' and maintain it's collectors value.

you don't see as much of the 2nd in the Buick community as you do with the more popular collector car makes.

I'm going to go with the error on the POP. My grandfather bought the car sometime in the 80's and it was put inside in 91 when he passed away. A few years ago I got it drivable again i was doing some research and realized that it was very rare to have the 425 in it. Would that make it be worth as much as the GS rivieras?

The engine should also have the date code stamped on it near the production code. So does it say LW 219 or something different?

It did have some numbers after the lw but I didn't pay any attention to what they were. I'll look next time I'm at the shop. I just looked at the lw and the EIN to compare to the VIN

On the PoP, the line below the engine information is the transmission information. There should be a plate on the right side of the trans with that info on it, so you might check that out too.
