Thread: Nailhead ID

    Nailhead ID

I want to confirm whether my 322 is out of a 40 series or the other 3, but I can only find the #1166349 on the heads. I've checked the ID page of this site and my shop manual but cant find the # starting with V that both these sources refer to.
Its not the original motor for my car, I have that in a million pieces, cant find it on that one either!
    Help!

You are not going to be able to make such a determination with casting numbers.

Here is the information you need...

    http://www.buicks.net/shop/engine_ident.html

There is an image showing where to find the numbers.

The only reason for not finding them where it shows is that, I think Canadain engines sometimes don't have the numbers on them.

I've read that many times but cant find the machined surface that the # is supposedly found! Is there another way of finding out if its from a Special or the other 3?

    Hi,
there a so many threads about the engine identification, an i don't want to start a new post just use this thread.

I've had the same problem, im looking for the Id between the exhaust manifold but there is no Number, i only had the block id 1165752.
I found some posts in the web that these block is a 264, but wanna go save. Does anyone know where these number are listed in any book or what else.

    So long
