I guess when in doubt go to the book. I looked in my Chassis Manual
and saw that the information is stamped on the axle tube left side. A
wire brush and a little emory cloth and all is well.

I have a 1968 GS400 convertible with a 10 bolt rear end and I understand that there is a difference between a U.S. 10 bolt and a Canadian 10 bolt. How can I tell which I have without pulling the cover. There is no tag on it. Thanks, Jim V.

So what did you find out?
As I understand, Canadian-built (Oshawa) got Chevy 12-bolt rearends, and the US cars got a "heavy duty" 10-bolt (which, as I understand, has heavy-duty axle bearings but is otherwise pretty much the same).

This is an U.S. built vehicle with a 3.42 axle. Code stamped on axle tube is OH-129.

If OH it should be a 3.42 ratio non posi rear with a 3 or 4 speed manual trans.
It is indeed a 3.42 non-posi (soon to be a posi) with an original 3-speed on the floor. Transmission was built by Ford.
