Motor's repair manual says it's on the left front door pillar; also on right side of shroud under the hood.
Does anyone know where to find the chassis # on a 1948 Buick Roadmaster 76S?

I sold my car to a buyer in Turkey, and Turkish customs officials won't let release it withour locating the chassis #. You have been a great help. Thank you very much.
I can't swear to it, but I think it is supposed to be stamped on the frame rail near the master cylinder.
I have found it on that frame rail near the master cylinder on a a couple of '51 frames and on the frame rail, passenger side, top! behind the rear spring. Not easy if you don't pull the body. I couldn't find the one by the master cylinder without pulling everything apart either.
May not be the same on a '48, but I wouldn't be surprised

I couldn't find the number on my '40 Super, but the Motor manual told me where it was; right side of frame, top of rail between the rear of the battery and the firewall. You've got to stand on your head with a flashlight to see the thing. What were they thinking??
