Thread: Identifying a '72 GS?

    Question Identifying a '72 GS?

    Hi all,

I wandered over from Team Camaro and I would love some help decoding what is supposed to be a 1972 GS I looked at today. The car was unrestored and black on black with a 350-4. All the parts are there and it looks all original. It had power discs in front.

The trim tag reads what I believe is:
    72 43437FL1 172146
    108 48 48
    02C A52

    VIN:
    4G37K2H171188
This VIN tells me it's a GS. Correct? Other than the wrong color, which is supposed to be Hunter Green I believe. I can't find any trim tag info besides that and the build date which is 3rd week of February, and that it's a coupe.

    Thanks for any help!

    Thumbs up

    Thanks folks!
I'm sure it says A52 on the tag. But I'm going to look at it again today so I'll double-check.

Any idea what it would be worth? I know that's an impossible question to answer without seeing the car personally. Like I said, it's 100% original and in very good condition. Except for the usual bushings being dried out and some rusty underbody, it was in exceptional condition. All the pieces were there.... all the trim on the body and everything under the hood. Other than a Thrush muffler, the exhaust was as factory. It's been sitting since 1998 as evidenced by the dust and cobwebs.

He had a printout from one of the automotive sites with the Low, Mid and High price ranges sitting on the dash, so I can assume he's going to play the "best offer" game. I think the Low price was somewhere close to $10,000 and High was somewhere around $27,000.
    It needs restoration for sure.

    Thanks again!

heh, AtlantaBuick is back up? they were down for months and then they were up for a while but there wasn't anything on their pages. it'd be nice if they just invested in a decent service provider and stayed up.
