i have no idea what VA is talking about. the 2nd digit of the VIN is the year code.
7J would be a 1963.
7K is 1964 ... according to my books anyways.
I am currently working with the Virginia DMV to get the title to my recently purchased Buick Riviera corrected. The title came from Missouri and it showed as being a 1963 Buick Riviera even though the vin appears to be for the 1964 model year. Does anyone know of a good authority within General Motors that could solve this issue. The VIN is 7K1218389. When the DMV puts the number in it comes up invalid for 1964, but comes up valid for 1963. Rather than having to take months to resolve via MO and Nevada, I told them to title it as a 1963 and then I will work on fixing it via mail, phone calls, etc. to the various state DMV's. Everything I have seen points to it being a 1964, but not according to the state of Virginia.

Thanks for the feedback on the VIN number. I will try to recycling yard approach as they may at least know who I should speak with in Richmond.
