Hi
Good year to you all!
I was looking into the engine numbers. Mine is from the last year.1953
That year started with 6950620-4.
Dos somebody know what the last number was, before everything went to V?

I saw that, but it goes to 1952.
In the next page, it starts with 1953 and starts with the above number for t1953 Line8.
Mine is somewhat 15000 later.
wanted to know the total for that year

I've never seen a source for the ending number for 1953 I8 engines, but you could estimate the lowest number it could be by taking the starting number for 1953 and adding the series 40 production to it:

starting I8 sequential number for 1953 = 6,950,620
1953 Series 40 production = 217,674

So at a minimum it would be 7,168,294, but they always built extra for use as replacement engines, etc.

Ok Thanks
would-be be interesting to know whatever last engine was, what number and when and where produced.
the end of the era.
Anyone?

I'm going to nitpick a bit, but Buick never used an L head eight. L refers to a flathead. Buick used valve-in-head engines for almost their entire production, starting in 1904.

Oldsmobile and Pontiac used flathead straight eight engines.

Buick built 217,624 straight eights in 1953.

I know,
Sorry. I used the L for Line.
So in theory we know the last number.
