hey everyone i have recently bought a 1949 buick hearse and i am about to break into the restro process and i'm trying to plan every thing out. i was just wondering what are somethings i can do to my straight eight that will produce more power and how i would go about doing it. thanks guys

Hi hearseman, Great to see others from Ontario on here. I'm from Brantford, Ontario myself. Gretzky town :)his parents live like 2 blocks from me. Anyway, check out this article from the buick shop on building hi-perf straight eights.

Hi-perf straight 8

Also Check in the posts about the 3 deuce intake in the straight eights section. There is a link to a really cool straight eight that a guy overseas is building and he has some really good ideas about what to so with one of these engines. Figure any of your traditional hot rodding and racing tricks will work. Raising the comp. ratio(different or modified pistons, milled head)porting and polishing, balancing the bottom end polishing the rods, blueprinitng, etc. You're not going to be able to build a high RPM enigine, but these engines will make huge amounts of torque and that's what it really all about.
