HELP! I want to air condition my newly-aquired, daily-driver, '49 Super. The local Vintage Air dealer says I have to have a 12V power source, and I can't find anyone here to do it.
Is it practial to installa 12V alternator in place of the 6V generator and use a step-down transformer between it and the rest of the electrical system, taking the 12V for the AC from the alternator?
If so, where can I get an appropriate transformer?
If not, what can I do, short of converting the entire car to 12V?
If I have to convert the whole car to 12V, who within a days' drive of Pensacoal, FL, can do it, and what should I expect that to cost?
