positraction

Does anyone know if positraction was available for a '62 Invicta (or Wildcat or Lesaber) ?
I have an automatic transmission with a 3/23 (?) rear ens, but only one wheel drive. I would like to convert to a positraction unit if there is one that will slide into the rear axle pumpkin. If you know of something, please let me know. Thanks.

Yes, Buick had posi since about '56 or so. It was a pretty rare option then. It was becoming more popular after '60, but still rare. When I bought my '64 Riv. the salesman tried to talk me out of posi, but I prevailed. '61 & '62 it was still a pretty rare option. For '62 the ONLY unit available that will be a bolt-in is '61 or '62. IF you do find one be ready to PAY up as they are quite costly & even more costly to get rebuilt.
Just my nickels worth.

i think posi was somewhat more common in the station wagon versions ... but the station wagon rear ends have mounts for leaf springs.

so, you'd have to take the innards out of an Invicta wagon rear end and swap it into yours.

As far as memory ALL Buick's had coil spring rear suspension. The "Clam Shell" wagons started off with leaf springs, one ton pick-up for that matter, & continued on till I believe '76.
