Yes, so long as you use the 1938 Special's motor mounts. This means you need to find a 1949 248 that had a 3 speed tranny behind it -very rare. Better to find a 263 from a 1950-1953 Buick Special (Super in 1950, 1950 Specials had the 248) that came with a 3 speed tranny. Any 248/263 that had a Dynaflow behind it is difficult to connect to a 3 seed tranny. Their crankshafts are different. Use the flywheel that comes with the new engine. Use the 38 Special bellhousing and front motor mount.
