Talking Looking to buy '47 Super 8

    Hi Guys,

    Hey VAL

I see that You are a NEW MEMBER!

    WELCOME ABOARD!

The two basic things that You would want is:

That the Buick Runs and is Rust Free and without major body damage.

The Front Nose or Clip are easy replacement items. Just unbolt remove and replace. This is true with the trunk and doors also.

But the main Body of the Buick, Roof aand Rear Quarter Panel it is a bit more complicated as structure wise they are one piece with the various combination of parts Welded together.

I wouldn't restrict myself to only a '47 Model since 1942, 1946-48 are essentially the same. Significant changes did not occur until 1949.

Inspect the intake and exhaust manifolds for cracks. The heat riser valves are known to sieze up and the heat can crack the manifolds. It's not the end of the world, but it's something to watch for.
What are you looking to find? Do you want a project for the two of you to restore or build? Or are you looking for a driver, something he can hop in and drive as is? Or are you looking for a fully restored show quality vehicle?

    Smile 1947 Buick

Looking for a driver, does not need to be perfect but it needs to be mechanically sound and with no rust, the rest is little stuff. My dad is not in the physical condition to do any work.

If you want a little help in your search, let us know what specifically you do or don't want. You know... 4 door, price range, whatever. Here is one on ebay but the auction is almost over...

    Talking 1947 Buick on E-Bay

    The car looks pretty good

Missing a Piece of Stainless Molding on the right side.
Needs a new driver door handle.
Did you ask the seller the milage and what his reserve is.?

The car is worth between 3,700 and 7,400. Hard to tell exact condition.

Can't see the underside. Sellers tend to emphasive the good points and some creative photography.

    Post 1947 Buick

They are not willing to tell me the reserve. He said he will stop the auction for $7000 but I do not think it is worth that much. They say they have a lot of maintainence history and the odometer shows 34000 miles but they have no way to prove if it is just 34000. Says the clutch is new and it is mechanically sound. Can't think of anything more right now.
