    Unhappy Cam shafts

Hello out there in straight 8 land, we are trying to find some info or source to get a little more lift and duration out of a cam. We have a 1950 Buick 248 cu inch. I tried Egge but they only have the standard cam. Thanks Vern

Howards and Isky made performance cams for them back in the days. I've got the impression that they can still regrind your existing cam.

    cams

I got a cam from Chet Herbert, about 12 years ago, he had an ad that said " CAMS $39.95 ANY CAR ANY LIFT" or somethin like that. So I called and asked if he could do a I-8 Buick, and he said yes! So when i came to pick it up, he told me it took a half day to reset his cam grinder. He asked that i dont tell anybody cuz he didnt want to do those anymore. ggg You might give Iskenderian a call, or Schnieder. Comp cams? You may have to seach around, somebody can grind it.

    straight 8 camshafts

was looking at some cam and valvetrain sites and it looks like Crane Cams advertises specialty cam grinding for antique cars, and I know theyv done Buick I- 8,s in the past. And try ROCKER ARM SPECIALISTS they will custom rebuild and possibly make hi lift rockers from yours. like 1.6 ratio. Just look in google.

Schneider (SP) Cams in San Diego does lots of custom cam work. Might try them. Steve Long at what used to be Babe Erson might be willing to do one.
He is in the Long Beach area I believe.
Sometime if you call Isky or some of the other old cam grinding outfits and ask the right questions you might discover that they have might still have blanks left. Sometimes even billet blanks.
