Thread: Crank dampener/pulley

    Crank dampener/pulley

I want to replace the V pulley with a serpentine pulley. Will this change the dynamic balance ?

    Thanks

    Re: crank damper pulley

Generally if you change accessories you will not need to perform unique dynamic balancing of the assembly. However it sounds like you might be going to another type of harmonic balancer by converting to another set up. It should not be a problem since Balancers are usually balanced individually and not in conjunction with engine balancing.

    Dampner/pulley

Where did you find that, Long? I thought I went through all his post. Guess not. I am thinking I want to change to a serpentine belt. Wondering if changing to a different pulley messes with the balance.

Presten has not been around for awhile.

    Thanks

no, as long as the pulley is balanced it should be fine. I have a bunch of pix from Preston. its cool seeing what other guys come up with for solutions.

I'll admit. I like that double grooved pulley ( pictured).
