    Newer Dynaflow

I found a Dynaflow with an open drive shaft attached to a 401. I have a dynaflow for a straight eight 263. Is there a way to utilize the open drive shaft dynaflow behind the straight eight? This would end the enclosed drive shaft leaks and open up a possibility of a wide variety or rear end gear ratios. I wonder if the bell housing on the straight eight dynaflow would bolt to the open drive shaft dynaflow and if the torque converter would change over?

Almost everything is different between S-8 and V-8 at the front end of the Dynaflow. If you are going to mix any parts it will have to be at the rear end of the case.

In other words, you will have to see if the tail housing, output shaft, and other parts inside the tail housing will swap. I suggest that you get shop manuals for both versions and dig in.

I can physically see just looking and counting bolts that the tail shaft housings will not interchange. I am going to find an early dynaflow that I can take apart and compare to the newer one.
