    carter vs. stromberg

2 barrel carbs going on a 52 263. I rebuilt the wcd 2 years ago and drove for a while then I horked it and installed a 600 cfm edelbrock. now I scored a stromberg from Bruno. cool dude with a rad hot rod truck project with a 263. anyway I want to use one of these carbs instead of the edelbrock. but which one? pic won't load?

I like Stromberg , I use them on my 47 & 48 Buick Roadmasters . I use the aav 267 carb witch is the big carb . aauvb 267 is for super specials . Better performers , I used a Carter it ran well with it , Good idle , No ***** . Just worked properly , So I took it off . Then put Stromberg back on . Then the ***** came back . Stromberg is very popular with the old hot rods . Just my opinion .

opinions are what I am after. I have the stromberg installed now. waiting on some gaskets and to finish my bags before firing it up.

IMO, the Carter is mechanically simpler and easier to work on. This should not be taken to mean that the Carter is necessarily "better". It just means that I prefer the Carter in case I ever have to work on it.
