1950 water leak into bell housing

Hi all, I have only had this car about a year and don't drive it a lot...I have noticed that a small amount of coolant drips from the bell housing ( its a manual) after returning home. I have looked in the owners manual and cannot see any freeze plugs in this rear part of the motor so I am a bit stumped....anyone know more about this area?

    thanks

    water

I bet if you inspected the upper part of your engine you would find the water is just running down through your bell housing. There is a soft plug on the back of your head. It could be coming from your head gasket at the back of your engine. The engine temp sensor is also on back on the right side.

how to replace hidden soft plug

Well here is the answer: an old trick done back in the day was to bore a small hole thru
the firewall [from the back, under the dash] drill al hole in the soft plug and use a sheet metal screw to pull it out. Sometimes the plug is too rusty for that so you may havto use a hook. I have seen this done on several old Buicks.

    Pulling plug

Thanks for that, I thought about having to bore a large hole but this should do the trick, plug feels sound with my fingers ( can't see a thing ) so hopefully would come out complete.
