    Compound carburation

    Question:
Will the compound carburetor manifold (two twos) from a 248 cid straight eight fit on a 263 cid straight eight?

The only problem is that the 263 usually have side motor mounts ,and that makes it very difficult to use the "Y" pipe or put an exhaust pipe on the front manifold

Can you develop your solution ?
Looks like motor mount is at the same place but upside down.

Yes and no, Its is flipped over, cut, welded, redrilled, and trimmed, also the frame mount tower has to be cut down flush to the top of the frame rail and capped off with a welded plate and drilled for the rubber biscuit mount.

Thanks. I already bought the compound intake but first the car need to run in its stock setup

By then if you have pics detailing the mount I would be happy to get them for the day I dive into it.

I though 1940-1953 straight 8 could be swappable. I guess 1941-1942 with compound option only had different mounts ?

I suppose the 41 42 are like my 38 . The engine mounts are on the front . Later engine have mounts quite in the middle of the engine .
    Like this :
    ( it s a 263 1951 with the front mounts to go in a 38 )

Up to 1948 front mount is on plate at the front. After 1949 engines have mid side mount. Need to use the front plate when installing a 1949 and later engine in pre 1948 cars
