    Hey guys, this is just the thread I was looking for ... converting from 6 volt to 12...

    I wonder what the max amp rating of the stock ammeter is ? If an alternator is used in place of a 12V dynamo (Generator) then it will draw a much higher current through the ammeter until the battery gets charged.

    Regarding the points... even if a 12V coil is used, do the points still tend to go bad ? is that because of the higher current flowing through it ?
    May be a points set from a 12V car of some other type could be adapted ?

    Build thread slow process

    This car is a negative ground, do not ground the positive terminal. The ground cable goes to the block, and the positive to the starter.
