More camshaft, roller rockers, Winters Xtremeliner rear end with 2.19 gears, to keep the old engine loaded and pulling, Double the intercooler size. Should be an interesting ride.

    Red face Buick Dynaflow

After many experienced people have all recommended, I am looking for a 1956 Buick Dynaflow Transmission. I have a 1950 with Dynaflow and most have suggested the 1956 twin turbine model with a 1953 bell housing and flex plate is a great swap that keeps it pretty close to original. So, if anyone knows of one for sale or has one, please pass along the info. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much!!!!!

    Doug:

We didn't get much time to look at all the cars (there were a LOT). They met their goal of 12,000 cars. The only chance we got to look at cars was on our 1/2 mile trek from where are Great Race cars were on display to the building where we had the team meetings and kick off dinner. There were some pretty wild looking rides.....probably should have taken pictures.

We were about to leave the Fairgrounds when the skies opened up.....locals said it was a storm of "Biblical Proportions". We were stranded in about 6" of water. The the folks in closed cars rushed the gates, so some of us in open cars had to seek shelter. We hunkered down in the Hagerty trailer for a good hour. It was almost midnight when we were able to escape and return to our hotel. Downed power lines and trees everywhere!

You ask, "How was Back to the 50's?" AWESOME.....will never forget it.

Only thing more awesome would be at Speed Week to watch you run!

    Pat

p.s. We had 4 days of rain that we were competing in; from light sprinkles to mostly heavy downpours. Then we had a heat index of 110 to 115 for the remainder of the Great Race to Mobile, AL

    Speed Week Week

Well, Speed Week is done for this year. We didn't have a bad experience. Last year we had a best run of 242 mph, and this year we picked up the pace and had a best time of 253mph. We were shooting for 260, but it will have to wait for World of Speed in September. On the next pass we broke the bottom out of the old Buick "stock" solid lifter and the pieces and the pushrod raised hell with the cam lobe. We were trying to find another lifter but had no luck. That's racin'. On that run it still ran a respectable 215mph. on 7 cyl. When I get home I'll post some pictures if I can get them on here.

Doug, It was great to meet you and Frank on the flats this year. Awesome seeing that old Buick 8 run. What a sound. 253 mph for the old gal is hauling some beans! John

    Speed Week 2013

After the car broke a lifter and we didn't have any luck locating a replacement in time, we had a little downtime and took some pictures. Going back in a couple of weeks for World of Speed with high hopes for our 260mph 2013 goal.

    Cool It been a while.................

Haven't seen many updates lately. Anyone working on anything to hop up a str8? I am in the middle of a ground up resto on my 1950 Special. Body shop welding in new floor pans, whole front end done, frame is being powder coated, It's gonna have a 2 tone house of kolor paint job, black on bottom with green on top. Engine is almost completely stripped and ready for the machine shop. Can't wait. So, who has a killer street build done on their str8. I am gonna try and do a killer rebuild on the original 1950 248. My excitement level is still high, how about yours????

Sounds like a nice build. Are you going to do a build thread somewhere so we can see its progress.
There's no such thing as too much cam....only not enough engine!
