I had the same problem, and it turned out to be the coil wire. Mine has two wire clips that stick into each end of the wire to provide a good contact with the cap/coil. The problem was that the wires had corroded and were insulated by the corrosion. Either clean the one you have or replace the coil wire with a new one. I cleaned mine and the engine cranked up for the first time and ran fine. I will now replace all the spark plug wires.on mine.
