Waking a sleeping 215

Hi all,

I have a 71' MGB GT I am contemplating a 215 swap into. I have access to 62' and 63' 215's, stored in doors though the seller says neither will turn over at the moment. I am looking for advice and the proper methods to get them to turn over. Is it inaccurate to think a soaking of Marvel's Mystery into each cylinder may free them? If I am able to get them to turn over, which would be the most desirable, the 63'?

I would like to perform as much of the rebuild as I can minus the machine work if any is needed. If you could point me to any threads, blogs, documentation of the required processes and procedures I would be appreciative.

I have had good success using Marvel & Ascetone mixed & put in the cylinders for a week or two to try & free the assembly up. OR you can just take them apart as it sounds as if they need a rebuild anyway.

Change of plans. I finally picked the 215 up on a trade for rare mag wheels and cash. I want to put this in my 61' CJ5.
Where can I decode the engine?

I went slow on one spark plug, whole ceramic came out, left threads and electrode.
Soaking the others in Kroil. I want to see if I can get it moving without tear down as I may sell it, not certain yet. 50/50

Will try Marvels/Acetone mix once plugs are out. Mark at D&D said let that sit for a day or two, try turning from the flywheel bolt not the harmonic balancer.

I've been doing that since I purchased, pistons/crank still won't budge and going at this carefully. I did get the crank shaft moving as I disassembled further, feels nice and smooth. Just soaked it with Kroil on the crank and journals.

Now that my engine swap timeline is moved up, I am putting more time into getting it freed up. With it frozen, how do I access the rod bolts that are turned in towards the inner block? That is preventing me from taking the rods a part and driving to gently drive the pistons out the bores.

Bores look good, hoping the machine shop confirms this and I can just re-ring, hone, new oil and water pump, gaskets and other items from TA Performance.
