I've searched for this part number forever. I want to replace the oil pump in my 1957 Special 364. I am reading I should replace it with a 1959 oil pump but cannot find the GM OEM part number. Just can't afford to buy the wrong one. Please advise.

The pump out of my 57 is 1174262-6 so what is this part number? I just found a 59. So pleased. How do you tell the vacuum pump from one without (beside the number)?
thx.
I think you may be confused, there is no vacuum pump associated with the oil pump.
The vacuum pump is associated with the fuel pump. There is a '57 Chassis manual in the reference section that you can refer to.

I found an old article on line. I thought was about the oil pump. Oops. It was in fact "fuel pumps" as they referenced what the article was about as "the pump" Duh. Thanks for the clarifying.

See the attached 2 pages from the 1957 Buick Product School Manual describing the new combined oil/vacuum pump used in '57 and 58. The part number for the pumps and screen is 1175268 as Bob notes above. The 1174262-6 number is a casting number of the oil pump body. Casting numbers very seldom match the part numbers. Buick didn't sell the pump body by itself, so there's no way to tell if this is the part number of the body.
With the the introduction of electric wipers in '59, the vacuum pump was discontinued. The pump bodies are similar for '57 and '59 but not the same. See the attached pages from the '57 shop manual (pg 2-40) and the '59 shop manual (pg 2-39).

Thank you for the responses Bob and Todd. Well I located a used 1959-60 oil pump. Apparently the 59 pumps more volume. Once I have the two in my hand I will see if they are interchangeable.
I am new to the world of Nailheads but always admired them from outside the wheel wells. I am rebuilding this engine as a winter project. I own a 1935 Chevy with the original drive train, brakes, and 6v system.
I live for these challenges and appreciate any guidance I can get. Thank you.
