    322 exhaust manifolds

Before I bought my car the passenger side exhaust manifold got a small crack in it. Over time this crack has gotten worse and sounds like complete ***. I'm just wondering if manifolds off of a '54 322ci Nailhead would fit on a '56 engine without any issues.

    Thanks in advance.

The 56 manifolds are 56 only , they are bigger than earlier years.

    Alright, thanks Judd.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a place to locate headers for the 322?

Have you taken the manifold to a good welding shop and asked them if they could weld it?

I have asked some welders and they say that you can't realistically weld cast iron. All you are really doing is patching it. Whether or not it will hold all depends on the integrity of the rest of the cast iron itself.

I am not a welder, and I haven't seen the problem, however, I think if you can find a friendly welder with access to some good equipment, they might bead it, grind it out, and consider spray welding it with a good arctec, eutectic or other alloy and it would probably work just fine.....

You should expect to pay at least an hour and a half of shop time.

    Keep an on ebay.

    Good luck,

    Thumbs up Exhaust manifold welding

My right manifold was cracked so I got an old welding expert to weld it for me when rebuilding the engine. No problem!
