I have a 94 buick skylark v6 3.1 ltr eng. Can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is on the engine? My car has been sputtering recently and would like to maybe replace it.

I have a '97 Chev Lumina with the 3.1 and the fuel filter is strapped to the gas tank. You have to de-pressurize the fuel system to replace it.

the fuel filter on your car is located in front of the rear axle underneath the car.
You'll need 2 wrenches and a fuel filter tool which you can buy at a parts store for under $10.

When you remove one of the lines, BE CAREFUL and wear safety goggles, because the gas will SPRAY out everywhere, especially if you've just driven the car. It may be best to let the car sit over night or a few hours atleast to allow some of the fuel pressure (approx. 44psi) to bleed off.
The nuts on the engine side of the filter will probably be seized or very rusty, so be sure you don't crack or twist the fuel line!

Once you have the new filter installed, you'll notice the first time you start your car it will take a bit longer to start than normal. This is normal, so don't worry.
