Accualy i'm a little asshamed, but my engine is out of a 1976 Regal, it's the 3.8, i have two questions. But first the specs:
3.8L natraly asperated, headers, eldelbrock highrise intake, 3 gal aluminum radiator, holly 4 barrel 391CFM carb, tricut valves(did myself), msd ignintion system, blueprinted block
I was wondering if anyone made high comprsion heads for it?
Also it has a 5 speed vacum auto in it:
Anywhere i can get either a 6 speed manual or a electronic shifter for it?
I would check www.taperformance.com They would be where I would look for the heads at. I don't do much in the way of that motor, but I know that on numerous occasions for fun we would poke the 3.8 in a little Chevette using it's exiting 4sp manual. I can't remember where we were getting the flywheels, but I know they were cheap because was still in high school when we were doing this. At that point all you need is the correct bell housing. I would look at using an S-10 pick up truck 5 speed. There are plenty of them out there and they are usually reasonably priced. You'll still need the clutch pedal assembly. If you can find one they were used in the 74-76Malibu V6 station wagons which share the same general frame frame layout. I would reccomend going with a hydraulic slave cylinder to accuate the clutch. You'll need to puntch a hole in the firewall and reinforce it so the the pedal does not stress the area.
