Air Cleaner to Carb

Is there supposed to be some kind of spacer
between the air cleaner and the carb. My stock air cleaner sits a little to hard against the
fuel inlet hose. It seems like the air cleaner
housing should sit a little higher?

The only gasket im aware of between the filter housing and the carb. is a paper gasket about 1/8 of an inch thick, or less.
I'm sure you can fashion something thicker out of cork or cardboard if you really need something thicker. This won't look the greatest obviously, but it won't affect performance any.

You could aslo add one of those heat insulator carb to manifold gaskets. It'd raise the carb up a little and make it run cooler [but insulating it from the head of the block and inlet manifold] at the same time.
