I'm in the process of rebuilding the carb on my 56 Buick Special 46R. In the front of the carb at the Fuel Inlet there is a 2 inch round 1 inch thick circular part made by Moraine, Dayton, OH., but has no part number stamped. I tried to resurch this part in the shop manual and i'm not sure it is a fuel filter or what the manual refers to as a fuel "strainer" there is a inlet and outlet fitting on either side and a small bolt in the middle that when removed the part splits in half. I opened it up and there was all sorts of dirt, sand, sludge and sedement inside, which I cleaned out. Inside the is a "O" ring rubber gasket that seals the two halves together and also a "mesh fibre material" that was completely "Lacquered" over. I tried to clean it up with some Lacquer Thinner, but the "O" ring expanded and distorted out of shape, and the fibre mesh filter just shreaded apart.
My question is Where Would I be able to get a new "O" Ring and interior fibre mesh Material.
Any and All Help will be greatly Appreciated.
