Thread: Nailhead distributors

Post

Guys,

Are there any differences in the Nailhead distributors?

I want to get mine rebuilt with a small body HEI - to fit under the cap - but don't think mine is rebuildable. I've seen a few on eBay I was thinking of buying and seding to the rebuilder - either Carmen or Dave Ray - but do not know if all Nailhead distributors are interchangeable. I've heard about ones with and without a winder. What is all that about please?

FYI I am rebuilding a '65 425 dual quad for huge low end torque not high end horsepower.

regards, thanks & Happy Holidays!!

HI NICKS! I'M A NEW MEMBER TO THIS SITE AND I HAVE A 66 NAILHEAD (401). LAST YEAR I INSTALLED ELECTRONIC IGNITON AND HIGH OUTPUT COIL IN MY STOCK DIST. IT'S MADE BY PERTRONIX. IT IS GREAT. IT NEVER STARTED SOOOOO EASY AND RUNS GREAT ALSO. CHECK (OUT PERTRONIX.COM) THEY MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING ELSE THERE FOR YOU.
NOW A QUESTION FOR YOU. DO YOU HAVE ANY PICS OR OTHER RESOURCES FOR 2x4 CARBS. SUCH AS THROTTLE LINKAGE AND FUEL LINE ROUTING TO THEM. MINE IS KIND OF HOME MADE.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Maybe some of you with the option could upload some to the "rides" program!

Bob,

Thanks for the post - very good of you.

I don't have any pics of my linkage I'm afraid since it's in a box on teh shelf of the garage! - the engine is still in build stage. However I can tell you it has a rod with a adjustable joint linking the two carbs. That much more I'm not sure I can tell you.
Sorry !
