Hi, Please can anyone help, our recently acquired 1941 Buick has been off the road since 1965 (according to the tags on it).
The rear carb needs some work, it is in pretty good condition but it needs a throttle spindle and the two butterflys, including screws.
The number on the carb is AA 1. the number below the mixture screws is 382260 then R 7 further along the casting.
Can anyone point us in the right direction to obtain these parts?
Do they interchange with any other carbs?
The car was imported into the UK in December 2018, we are working on nursing it back to life and keeping original.
That is an interesting number (382260), it doesn't show in our reference or any other that I find. I am curious what the number of the front carburetor is?

Thanks for your reply, we have checked on the front carb and the best we can do with the number is,
under the mixture screws, left to right 8? R P2459?2 the numbers with ? after them means possible.
We have looked at the carb numbers on team Buick and haven't found anything similar.

With dual carb Buicks the front & rear are not the same. From memory 1 has the choke missing.
1941 & 1942 are the only years Buick had dual carbs on straight eights
Some people now modify the linkages so both work in parallel, instead of progressive.
Be very careful with the manifolds. They crack easily and very hard ($$$) to replace.
Documentation
Download the 1942 Buick shop manual. All of it section by section. The pdf link does not work. http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/m...Shop%20Manual/
It is very comprehensive and has information that can be used with all straight 8’s.
It has more information than was included in older “Shop Manuals” before 1942-41

Ted, attached are pages from the Buick master parts list, shop manual, and service bulletins showing front and rear Stromberg carbs for the 1941 series 40 and 50 cars (Assuming here yours is a Special or Super). AA-1 indicates the model of the rear carb. AAV-16 is the model of the front carb. There is a code number (such as 7-43) stamped on top of the die-cast bowl cover. This is the most specific number that defines the carb and is used for ordering parts. Also useful for determining the exact original car usage.
The throttle valve is Stromberg/Bendix part no 382246. The throttle valve screw, size #6-32, is no P-24902. The throttle stem and lever assy is part no 382261.
The 382260 no does not show in the parts book, but is probably the part no of the throttle body itself. This piece was not sold separately by Buick, but came as part of the throttle body assy no 382235. Stromberg used numbers in the 380xxx series for part nos of the complete carbs.
The AA-1, AAV-16, and other AA models were used as stand-alone carbs on other Buicks from 1937-55. Some other brands used them as well. So the needed parts were likely used on other carbs. It would take a carburetor expert to tell which ones used these parts. Likely other complete carbs would swap out as well. Www.thecarburetorshop.com has been recommended on other forums as a good source for older carb help.
Used carbs show up on eBay that could be useful for parts. There is one '41 compound carb up for sale now, but the throttle valves look to be damaged.
