well, an EGR is at least going to be fairly particular for the specific engine family you're working with.
a GM 3.8L is a fairly commonly used light duty engine though, and should be widely available in scrap yards. i would look for any of these models, 2003 or newer

you didn't say if you were supercharged or not. obviously, stay with the version of the engine you've got.
also note the service issues listed in the wiki article and make sure that those corrections have been made to your engine. engine fires and hydrolocking are both REALLY major problems that you don't want to have.
