Pushrod length would depend on the base circle of the cam, & whether it's new or reground. I wouldn't normally use used springs, but check the specs. with a spring tester. After 58 yrs. who knows???

Hey Guys,
I'm rebuilding my '56 Super's stock 322 Nailhead and adding some performance parts to it, namely a mild cam I have coming from Schneider Racing. ive been doing a lot of research and reading up on this kinda stuff cuz I've never souped up a motor b4 besides addin a better carb lol anyhow I have tons of questions that i'll be asking in this thread as the build continues and new problems arise to hinder the process of rebuilding. the first question I have for which I cannot find a direct answer is:
with my mild cam do I have to get shorter pushrods or better dual valve springs or both?!
Thanks,
-John

Thanks Tom! I ended up going with new dual valve springs and decided to go with some heavy duty push rods instead of adjustable. Just got the block, heads and crank back from the machine shop, now im waiting for the gasket set then going to dive into the reassembly process!
Another couple questions: would it be worth the money to get a dual quad intake (if I can find one), or could I jus put a 650 edelbrock on there to get a little more power? and is there anything I could do to my stock dynaflow to make it perform better?
Thanks,
-John
Dual quads look very cool.
I think a dual quad on a nailhead is overkill on a nailhead.
The restriction on the nailhead's breathing isn't helped by a dual quad. Just my opinion ...
