    Engin tilt???????

I am putting 401 into my '51 ride.file://localhost/Users/charles/Desktop/P3160001.JPG The motor is tilting 5 degrees. I got this angle by placing the intake on the block file://localhost/Users/charles/Desktop/P3160003.JPG and using a digital level. The question I have, is the 5 degree tilt a good number? My assumption is the carb set level. I searched this web site for posting pictures and did't find anything.

a generaal rule of thumb i've always used and still use is keep the carb level and let the motor sit where it will. ford sat all the FE motors ( 352,390,406 427 etc. at 11 degrees and tilted the intake manifold to make up for it , in the thunderbirds the motor sat level and thhe intakes did the same , hence you couldn't use a t-bird manifold on a fairlane or a fairlane manifold on a t-bird , they'de fit ut the wouldn't run well.
don't worry about a 5 degree tilt if the carb sets level.
