These are the freeze plugs and available at just about any auto store. Get brass ones when replacing. Are you sure they are 3" ? I think they are more like an 1" and something.
I have 1960's vintage Buick engines (401ci) in my boat. I have identifed that the exhaust plugs underneath the intake manifolds have rusted out and are leaking. I have removed one of the plugs and they are 3" diameter steel plugs with a concave shape. Does anyone have a sources for these plugs? Thanks for your help - Craig

They are much thicker than your normal freeze plug because of contact with the exhaust. I used to have a source for these. Unfortunately that source has dried up years ago. I'll see if I can do some research for you & maybe find another supplier.
