    Another Nailhead ID Question

I have read all the threads on this site about nailhead ID and have also looked in the reference section, to no avail. I recently purchsed a 55 Roadmaster Coupe. In going over the car when I got it home I noticed it had a two barrel carb. Having read that all 55 Roadmaster came with a four barrel carb I came to a conclusion. Either the motor has been swapped out or somebody put a two barrel intake and carb on the original motor.

The stamped number on the block is V87855I7. The cast numbers on the heads are 1166349-14 on the left side and 1166349 on the right side.

The letter I preceding the 7 in the block number seems odd. Does anyone have any idea what I have? Any help would be appreciated.

i don't think Buick provided much in the way of identifying car specific marks for the engine back then.

"7" being your last digit indicates a Roadmaster.

"I" was often used in place the digit "1".

the only 2 barrel setup available in 55 was on the 264ci Special.

Thanks for your reply. I read on another thread that in 1955, the 322 had a harmonic balancer and the 264 had a pulley without the harmonic balancer. My car the the harmonic balancer so I am leaning toward the motor being a 322 and not a 264. Now if I can just find a four barrel carb and intake.
