    Distributor

What is the correct number for the factory stock distributor for use on the factory stock dual quad set-up on the 1966 Nailhead? I've seen references for and heard of at least two different numbers, #1110933 and #1111055. Do these distributors "interchange" in this application?

I suggest you put your car's information in your "signature", so
that folks know your car/engine size/carburetor/etc and can
offer accurate answers/suggestions. (Click "User CP" at the
    upper-left and then "Edit Signature").

So based on your other posts I found, you've got a 66 401 and I
show in my Motor's manual, the part # to be: 1111055

EDIT: I don't even see part #1110933 listed for years 1964-1970.

Ah, as they say, ask a question in which you supply two possible answers, you'll probably get two answers. So far you've found information supporting the #1111055 and I've got another supporting the #1110933! Thanks for your help.

BTW - when I mentioned I scanned 64-70 model years, I scanned for
the 1110933 part # for *all* listed engines, not just the 401.

Sorry for the confusion, however, I gave you an incorrect number. The correct number is #1110993. It appears that it was used in all but the earliest version of the dual quads in 1964 which used the #1111055. Thanks for all of your help.

Here is a list of Buick distributor numbers that I found:

    http://www.buickperformance.com/distnmbrs.htm

It show the following numbers for the dual quad setups:

    1964
    425 2X4 1111058

    1965
    425 2X4 1111058

    1966
    401-425 1111055

The number 1110993 is listed for '63 only and '64 was the first year for the dual quad:

    1963
    401-425 1110993 Premium Fuel A/T

Sean, thanks for this "new" information. Although it adds more to my confusion about the correct distributor for this application, it is nevertheless appreciated. If anyone can tell me the "curve numbers" of the #1110993, #1111055 and the #1111058, that would be very helpful.

    Distributor

Thanks Sean, the links do help. I've been told that the #1110993 is the correct "replacement" distributor for the original #1111058 and that's confirmed in one of the links. I have a rebuilt #1110993 which I am planning to use. I'm going to try to find a resource who can send me copies of the distributor specs from the 1963, 1964 and 1965 Buick Chassis Service manuals. This would provide definitive information on the "curves" for both distributors.

I was researching nailhead distributors on Google and came across this thread. If you haven't already figured it out, the 1x4 401/425 for '64, 65, and '66 engines are all timed at 2-1/2* BDTC. The 2x4 engines are timed at 12* BTDC. Dist #1111055 is for the 1x4 engines; Dist #1111058 is for the 2x4 engines. Differen springs, and weights for different timing.

In '63 and prior years, all nailheads were timed at 12* (like the later 2x4 set ups) so the 11110993 is a distributor for those engines.
