401 timing cover

Here we go again ! Getting deeper into this 65 Wildcat,by the way you guys have been most helpful ! I found a water pump leak,actually the outer bearing bad,bad enough to let the impellor get into the cover,ate up about half of the gasket surface on the timing cover. It just wouldn't be complete without breaking one of the large and small bolts off that hold the pump on ! Any sources on a replacement cover ?

Try Nei Freman at www.fremanauto.com. He has an extensive old car salvage yard, bt may be snowed in at this time. You never know what he might have on his shelf. If he doesn't have one pulled, he will most likely have one in the yard, but you may have to wait until things thaw out in order for him to oull one off. He is a good source.

Too bad about the water pump bearing. Unfortunately this is a common failure. Be careful, because there are "inferior" rebuilds out there. Although Nappa and other outlet carries rebuilt water pumps, you are better off sending them to "The Flying Dutchman" if you have a good core to have yours rebuilt or buy one outright from him.
