Old Smokey...

I know they used to call these old engines smokers because of the road draft tube, but is it supposed to blow out of the valve covers through the breather holes? This is a 1955 264, Almost as soon as I start it up it blows a lot of smoke out the top breathers and the exhaust. Comp. is good tho since it fires up before it makes a complete revoloution.
Does anyone have any idea? Also, the oil pressure gauge is reading all the way High but there isn't a lot of oil coming through the rockers.

Probably a stupid question.............. but what is the oil level?

I have seen cars which have to much oil in them blow oil when they run.......

I just fired up 1955 264 a week ago the oil pressure does read high but drops to the 3/4 mark after it warm up but i think I'm having harder luck than you unless the push rods are suppost to have an obsruction to them even when it's running some how the oil is getting there to the top does any body have an answer to both of us
