    401 cam installation

Does the 63 401 nailhead have a cam thrust washer between the cam gear and block? I do not have a GM Buick manual. The Chilton's manual does not mention one. However, the old Street Rodder series shows one. I couldn't locate any info searching the net or this site. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

There is no thrust bearing between the block and cam gear. There is a C-clip in the back of the block behind the cam and in front of the freeze plug.

    Dr Frankenbuick:

Thank you for the quick response. No wonder I couldn't find any info on the thrust bearing-it does not exist.
