Hello everyone, like i said before i am a newbee and my 54 buick is dear to my heart. Today I ran a compression test on all 8 cylinder and her the results. Engine type : 322 cid I believe year 1954.

    right bank in firing order 1 = 105, 3 = 100, 5 = 85, 7 = 110
    Left bank in firing order 2 = 100, 4 = 0 , 6 = 105, 4 = 100

Well there the results, qestion what to do next?
    Welcome input.

How many miles on the eng. ? If it's high mileage then it would be best to do a complete rebuild . Just my 2$. HTH

More than likely time for a rebuild, especially with 0 compression in #4 cylinder.

    Compression

Did you do a second test after putting a little oil down the cylinder? That could give an increase or some compression, depending on the situation.......... right now with those readings the only choices are rebuild or replace

thank you to all those reply?

About how many miles, I couldn't tell you if they where the correct miles. The previous own said 64 thousand but i believe it to be 164,000. What to do next, I thing i would go and search for an engine to put in and take my time rebuilding the other.

Does anyone no of a go resource for buick engines and what year are the better than others. Also, i have to do my research on if my transmission could mate up with the new engine?

    compression

rule of thumb all cylinders should be within 15% of each other do both wet and dry tests as a guess heads are bad

With 0 psi in #4, you either have a burned or cracked valve or a hole in the piston...probably a valve. At the very least, the head will have to come off...
