    Question dynoflow to t400

my new ( well not so new ) t400 transmission has arrived. i have just a few questions to ask. 1-how do you determend the shift pattern..ie..which way is park and so on,on the left side of the trans is a 2 prong plug, what it for and do i need it. and last this transmission is about 5 inchs longer then the dyno, so when i have the drive shaft cut, from which end do i have the cut made from, the t400 is from a 65 rivera and will be going into a 61 lesabre.

I hope you got the flywheel too, as the dynaflow unit is different. The back of the crank is also different and will need some attention before you can install the ST400

The plug is for the switch pitch control and you do need it. You're drive shaft needs to be shortened. The fron half anyway. The trans. mount will need to be fabricated. The shift pattern is the same as any 400 and all the way forward is park. This can be verified by turning the output shaft and it will lock when it goes into park.

switch pitch? what is it and how does it work. ok on the shift pattern, but my question, i never had a 400 befor , so is it p,n,1,2,3,r or p,n,r,d,1,2 or some things like that. this transission came from a 66 401 and is going into a 61 364.

Remember to get your flex plate and bushing from Carmen--he will tell you how to balance the new flex plate to match the 364. The two prong plug is the switch pitch feature and the kick down---just splice your wire from your brake pressure switch--the one that goes to the brake lights and plug that into the top spade on your plug that goes to the tranny---this will engage the high stall and ease braking and creeping at the stop lights. The shift pattern is PRND21---------Good Luck!

thanks bebop138, if fact the trans is in the shop. But i was told the the switch pitch was shot, so i am having it taken out all to gether, and having a new pump put in.
