Making body panel

I’m trying to repair a huge hole in my 67 skylark top quarter panel what type and thickness metal should I use I think it’s .0065 is that correct

That sounds heavy to me. I don't know what was used, but I do believe most body men that I have talked with use 22 gauge, which is thinner than original, but easier to work with.

Usually, originally was 18 gauge.

on 63 its 18 Ga. Some of my rusted areas are 22 Ga. haha.
